BEFORE AGREEING TO THE WORK

Know what the estimate is describing.

A price is useful when you know the work it covers. Start with the actual door, vehicle or garage problem so the estimate conversation concerns your request rather than a different job.

Call 678-496-3211 with the location and what happened. You can use ordinary words; diagnosing a lock or naming a garage component is not your part of the preparation.

01

The equipment and the goal both matter.

Changing who holds a working key, getting into a locked space and restoring a difficult lock are different goals. Explain which one applies, whether a working key remains and how many locks or entrances are involved. Mention any separate fault so it is included in the conversation.

For a vehicle, provide the year, make, model and key or fob type if known. For an overhead garage door, describe its position and movement and share equipment information you can read safely. Compatibility and condition can affect the work available.

One entrance may have a handle lock and a separate deadbolt, so a door count may not describe the entire request. Say which locks you want included and whether several should share a key. A clear list makes it easier to understand the estimate's boundaries.

02

Ask what is included in the proposed amount.

Discuss any applicable visit, labor, parts, cutting or programming charges. Ask whether the estimate concerns the immediate problem or all the requests you listed. If you have bought a lock, key or fob yourself, identify the exact item before assuming it can be used.

Clarify availability and access arrangements at the same time. A business suite, shared entrance and parked vehicle may need different preparation. The estimate should describe the agreed work clearly enough that you understand what is being proposed before deciding to proceed.

03

If an assessment changes the plan, pause for an explanation.

Visible symptoms do not establish every cause. If an assessment changes the recommendation, ask what was found, why different work is suggested and what the revised amount includes. A new part or additional entrance should not be confused with the scope you first discussed.

Have the person authorized to approve the work available. Keep the agreed description and any handover information afterward, including which locks, keys or functions were addressed.

GOOD TO KNOW

Before the call.

Is a price from another car or lock a reliable guide?

Equipment and requested work can differ. Ask for an estimate based on your actual vehicle or entrance and the functions included.

What should I ask if more work is recommended?

Ask what changed, why the extra or different work is proposed, and what the revised scope and amount include before approving it.
